So! Ten days in, my first blog post of the year. Today my mom and I went trekking downtown. I had an eye exam at eight-thirty so my eyes were all O.O dilated the better part of the day, but we had a lot a lot of fun exploring, and me, taking pictures with my new camera, of course!

December 25
You can ignore this picture in terms of composition, but it was really a beautiful scene at my cousin's house on Christmas. Minutes after this picture was taken I fell and broke my lens, so I may be without a camera for a while... before I bite the bullet and buy a new camera.

So I made my sister go stand by a what-I-thought-was-a-fairly-photogenic wall. And I like how the picture turned out! But I do NOT NOT NOT like that little yellow flag in the ground there. I would've pulled it out, but, being in an airport, I decided better of it.
August 28
It was Sunday, my family at the hangar just getting things done... I had finished staining my bedshelf, I was a little bored, so I went on a walk around the airport with my camera to see what I could see.

So, go figure, these flowers are actually yellow. It is standard for me to take all my pictures in RAW (nikon=NEF) files. The special thing about these sort of files, other than they do not compress the picture, is they allow you to set the white balance /after/ the photo was taken. Which is how my yellow flowers ended up white. And all the general blueness surrounding.

SO. The answer to my predicament proves to be electrical tape. It's actually very neat stuff--clings to the camera without wrinkling around the corners. It works SPLENDID. Until my battery runs out. Two weeks, give or take.
This is a picture of the film camera (Minolta 7000 ca. 1985) my grandpa is borrowing to me. Looking through the viewfinder on this baby is stunning--we'll see how the pictures develop. It has auto-focus, which is a definite help. I love it soooo much! But I don't know how to use it to the extent of its capabilities yet. Again, I have to see if the film turns out to see if I'm using it correctly. The only thing automatic on this camera as far as I know is the focus. Haha. Good thing I usually shoot in manual on my Nikon, so I know a bit about those sort of functions.

August 10
So, I KNOW this is a photography blog, but I also must point out that this is my ONLY blog. I did take a picture of my little scantron pencil drawing, if that counts any. And then I colored it and played with the contrast and put it through few a few filters... yeah, in other words, I heavily edited it. But the lines are the same. I didn't rework the lines. Too complicated.
My drawings always seem to look better on paper, anyway. <<
Oh. I broke my camera. And my heart, while I was at it. I don't know how to fix it. I don't know if it IS fixable. I am not sure what I'm going to do. Guess it's time to draw some more.

My family went up to visit my grandma this week! Here is a fellow my brother and I sneaked up on in our paddle boat.

Rocking the old school 7up bottle! A little dusty, yes, but I love looking at old things like this.

The other day, my dad took my brother and me on a ride through downtown Minneapolis. Of course, all the pictures I took were through a car window, but I really do love the architecture that's down there, so I had to try anyway. This one definitely works best in black and white.

I get this feeling a lot--that I look at a perfectly normal (or even unappealing) scene and am compelled to make it look interesting or beautiful.
For instance, this dirty table. At the time of taking this picture, I didn't know what intrigued me about this scene, but I knew it /did/ intrigue me, so I took the picture. Now on review, I know it's all the glass on the table against the window that makes it interesting. But who would've thought a dirty table could make a photo?
Here's to keeping your mind open to new possibilities!

Airshow '11
Okay, I honestly haven't gone through a fraction of my photos yet, so... yeah. -_- But I'll get to them! These are just the first few I grabbed off my card. -nods.-

I really liked the concept of the planes flying and this American flag here. It really captures a lot of the mood of the show. Unfortunately, it was rather difficult with the timing of it. (thus the extreme gap of space here.
July 24
Making this short. I am NOT in the best of moods. My apologies.
(XD)
Beautiful lake in the town we stayed in 45 minutes out of Oshkosh.
